Savannah, Ga. – The Garden City Fire Department spent the morning of Sunday, Jan. 31 at the Savannah Mall during the Cops Against Illegal Racing (C.A.I.R.) second annual car and bike show.

The firefighters demonstrated their expertise on how to extricate a victim from a motor vehicle crash.  Crews used a number of tools including the Jaws of Life, Halligan bar and axes. After the demonstration, they answered questions from attendees.

This event was used as a teaching tool for the public on the dangers of illegal racing, excessive speed and being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

According to their website, Cops C.A.I.R., Inc. is a non-profit corporation that was created by law enforcement to provide an instructional presentation to teenagers and young adults regarding these dangers. The program is designed to be motivational while offering alternatives to illegal racing.
